Tueday's Album Review

Cherish
"The Truth"

I've been anticipating and talking about this album since I heard their first single, Killa and I'm beyond excited about this album. These sisters have great voices and they mesh well together. I love their tone and their style.

This album as defiantly shown their growth as artists and as sisters. With dance floor-laced tracks like Killa and Framed Out; crunk-filled ballads like Notice and Before You Were My Man; and the Cherish love ballads that we have grown to love like Amnesia and Only One.

Production is at an all time high. Brian Michael-Cox laced a few of these. This project is filled of maturity about grown women issues, with grown women opinions. Their voices stick to the melodies like glue and everything sounds fluid. "The Truth" is going to prove to be the truth and show the world that Cherish has some staying-time in the world of 'girl groups'. They do this for a living and they do it well so, buy the album!

THROWBACK JOINT

I think this one speaks for itself. I don't know why this song has been stuck in my head. Maybe it's my sub-conscience trying to tell me something [like maybe I need some] or proally because I heard a cover of it on YouTube the other night. Here I'll post it for you, only because I love these kids and I'm willing to support:

:-)

Ya Aint Got These On...

NIKE SPORTSWEAR DUNK HIGH
Quilted Patent Leather

SICK.

Yo. You have to see the whole series of these dunks, they come in black, red, green and yellow and they are the sickest dunks I've seen thus far. The patent leather just makes the shoe look CRAZY DOPE and let us not forget the quilted pattern.

I'm def not telling you where I found these at (even though you may already know). I'm keeping this pair all to myself. Ha!

Heard this joint yesterday and I wasn't sure if I was ready to share it with the world, but please feel free to indulge yourself in this beautiful ballad featuring [the lovely] Keri Hilson. Production on this track is crazy and the writing is on point. Why wouldn't I like this song?

Check for it.

THROWBACK JOINT - Rock Edition

"My car is in the front yard and I'm sleeping with my clothes on. I came in through the window last night and your gone"

How can you not still love this song? I'm a college student so of course I've had nights where I wonder, 'what the hell just happened?' Drinking is bad. But LIT was the shit for this joint and I wish that I paid more attention to their music as the years progressed.

---

"I'm happy. I'm feeling glad. I got sunshine in a bag."

If you didn't like this song you were a complete loser and your life sucked balls. I think I was in the 7th or 8th grade when I first heard this on MTV2 and I just thought it was beyond DOPE. Still loves it and still loves the Gorillaz - they're sick-wit-it!

---

"When it gets cold outside and you got nobody to love."

Everyone I knew underestimated Maroon 5 and guess what, they're the DOPE-est band you've ever heard of. This song never gave me that rock feel, it was like something a rapper needed to be on. I love their crossover sound. Ha! Now the world can't get enough of Maroon 5. Loves it.

"And all the girlies say I'm pretty fly for a white guy."

If you don't like this song or the movie Malibu's Most Wanted.... go jump off of something high and plant your head pretty close to the ground.

Gnarls Barkley - Going On (video)

Had this just chilling for the past couple of days.

Hey, forgive me. I've been effin busy okay?!? But if you haven't seen it... here you go and if you have, who cares?

Random Thought (part IV)

1. I've taken up smoking (black n milds mostly) but for some reason after I smoke, it's like my taste buds are on vacation and nothing tastes as good as it should. Like I got a Yoohoo last night and after smoking a black, it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Super disappointed.

2. I never understood why the people at my job, who only work for one day a week, would call out from work! I mean, you have a collective 6 hours so why can't you show up?! And then, I'm forced to actually do some work and in the process, almost quitting my job.

3. Is it okay for me to tell a customer that I almost choked him? I still have my job, so I'm pretty sure that it's slightly alright.

4. My roommate is the worse paper-writer I've ever encountered! I guess I can't blame it on her, her school never taught her how to properly write a paper. I think that should be a major concern when sending our youth to public schools. How is it that your 20 years old and you can't get through English 50?! But I love her nonetheless.

5. Finals suck balls!

6. My brother and I conference called my mother on Mother's Day. We both forgot to send her something, so we figured we'd come up with a lie together and that way she'll have to believe it. I don't think things worked out like that. She was a little pissed off, oh well. I thanked her for sliding me out of her uterus and she got over it. Simple as that!

7. What if; you get in a car accident and total your car; then as you're riding to school on your bike, you get a flat and its pouring raining; you're forced to buy clothes from the bookstore because your soaked; and then your roommate finds you a ride home so that you're not yet again walking - could you conclude that your life sucks? Or that maybe God just hates you? One or the other, but my rommie has some serious bad luck.

8. Oh and I went through a whole bunch of people that I don't talk to on Facebook and quietly deleted them, you think they'll notice?

9. I silently love the movie Friday Night Lights. Mostly because of Ivory Christian (google him).

10. I threw a shindig for my roomie's bday - excellent! I drank like a sailor and cursed like one too.

11. Is it a bad thing that I call my mother at 3am while I'm drunk and talk about my sex life?

12. Who's going to see the Sex and the City movie??? Me! Me! Me!

13. Oh shit. I found out that this guy that I'm like TOTALLY in love with is allegedly sleeping with another friend's ex, its crazy but I think I'm jealous. I've never had this feeling before so I don't quite know what to call it. Dammit, this being a woman thing really sucks balls. But I think I mask the pain pretty well. Out of sight, out of mind.

14. I miss my brother.

15. I love to cook. Like really love to cook. And my ish is good. I need to be someone's wife so that they can reap the benefits of my 'in the kitchen' experience. Cooking relieves my stress and it makes me feel really good once I'm done eating. Stop by one day, maybe I'll cook something for you.

16. School is almost over and I'm almost free from the slave chains. Guess it's time to prepare for the lamest summer ever! Philly. No man. Working. No fun. No sex. What a drag.

17. I'm thinking about writing a novel loosely based on my life and actual events, how bout that??

18. Oh and I need a new tattoo artist so that I can get right for the summer. If you know a good one in the Philly-area, shout me a holler dogg!

19. I think my 'Random Thoughts' have gone too far. Peace and much love to ya!

20. Wait! How come I can't play Guitar Hero? Like, I have no hand/eye coordination at all.

Ya Aint Got These On...

PUMA FIRST ROUND
WMNS

Dope!

These are the only kicks that I need all summer and I will be set fo life. Seesh, they look so untouchable. If someone would step on these, I would def drag them out into the middle of the street and stomp the shit out of them - Radio Raheem-style!

NEW MUSAK REVIEW

Usher

"Trading Places"
He's asking for the woman to take his place and take control of their sexual escapades, which is not a bad thing! I could see me adding this jam to my 'Between the Sheets' playlist (even though it gets no play). Great production on this track, I think the ladies will love it and the last line will def grab all the fellas attention! Loves it.

"Best Thing"
A second shot at romance - of course I love this track! Production is on point and I am feeling his words, DOPE. The beat actually makes this song for me. Can't say that I'm mad at him for this one, its hella DOPE and I can probably rock out to this joint for a while.

"His Mistakes"
FINALLY! A ballad that I can rock my head to. I've been waiting for a ballad from Usher because I know thats what he does best. I don't even care what he's talking about, I'm just glad that it's a ballad. Sounds like a B. Michael-Cox (or the Clutch) song but I can't assure that because he's not talking on this track like. "Take that. Take That."(thanks Diddly). Two thumbs up!!!

"Echo"
Sounds like a continuation from Confessions... but I loved Confessions and I still love this joint. Usher loves to tell a story in his music and we love to listen. Ooohhh no he didn't pull a Jon B - loves it. Usher is the shit, hands down! Who is taking his crown?? Chris Brown? I think not, he has a while to go. Hands down, best song thus far!

"She's Got the Part"
I swear I've heard this before on another album, I think 8701?! Not his best, but people will eat it up because it's Usher. Wow!

"This Ain't Sex"
Brings an old school feeling to the dance floor but I can't say that I'm in love with this jam. Eh!

"Just Like Me" ft/ Will.I.Am
Nice production. Catchy beat. A def club song. I think I've heard enough of the "Just like me" hook - didn't Keyshia Cole do it first?!? But whatev, Usher can do what he wants. I like it, not love.... just highly like.

----------
[endnote] His album is either going to be crazy dope or disgustingly awful, but seeing as how a whole slew of tracks have been leaked - I think this album is going to be a complete surprise for everyone. Guess we'll have to wait and see.......

DOWNLOAD OF THE WEEK!

Tamia
"Officially Missing You"

I've done a Tamia joint before but I'm really in this place where her music speaks to me so I'm happily doing another one. She is a great talent and her music just puts me in another place.

I'm so happy to just be free from so many perils that have held me down and now that my mind, body and soul is clear from agony and strife, I'm ready to take a step forward.

This one is for that very special someone who; forced me to reckon with myself, who was honest and real with me, who loved me, who lost me, who needed me, who has long since moved on. That person is probably my only inspiration for everything that I do today, for everything that I will become, and for everything that I left behind. Appreciation is given to you, unconditionally.
