He Made Me Do It....

Without further a due (and without the help of Christopher Ellis Francis).... I have completed my download of the above album and I am in total music bliss. A happiness that I think no one else in the world could understand.

Even after the shitty day that has transpired, I press "play" and everything in my world tip-toes out of the room and it's just me and N.E.R.D. - 20 minutes before it's released to the world! I would feel special but I've already expressed my jealousy to a certain (mentioned) someone who had the album before me. I really hate being the last to know about dope ish....

The morning is going to come before I expect it and sadly, this feeling will slowly fade as I have to rise and head to work. Sigh. Might as well enjoy it while I can and then rush home to enjoy it some more.

Tueday's Album Review

Cherish
"The Truth"

I've been anticipating and talking about this album since I heard their first single, Killa and I'm beyond excited about this album. These sisters have great voices and they mesh well together. I love their tone and their style.

This album as defiantly shown their growth as artists and as sisters. With dance floor-laced tracks like Killa and Framed Out; crunk-filled ballads like Notice and Before You Were My Man; and the Cherish love ballads that we have grown to love like Amnesia and Only One.

Production is at an all time high. Brian Michael-Cox laced a few of these. This project is filled of maturity about grown women issues, with grown women opinions. Their voices stick to the melodies like glue and everything sounds fluid. "The Truth" is going to prove to be the truth and show the world that Cherish has some staying-time in the world of 'girl groups'. They do this for a living and they do it well so, buy the album!

WEDNESDAY'S REVIEW

Tiffany Evans
(self-titled)

I feel bad that I didn't even know this album came out yesterday, I guess her team isn't doing very good promotion BUT the album rocks! I've been blasting it all day. Well anyhow, to the review::

The 15 year-old powerhouse that is Tiffany Evans has finally released her full-length self-titled album. With production from Mr. Collipark, Rodney Jerkins and Beau Dozier there is no dull track on the album. Tiff also flew in some reputable writers; NeYo and The Clutch, who wrote most of the songs.

Many people know her for 'Promise Ring' or even the Bow Wow friendly track, 'I'm Grown'. America has watched Tiffany grow from this little girl that we saw in Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman, to an amazing young lady. Her talent is endless and there will be more where that came from.

Pedestrian Boutique presents:

"WRITE OF WAY"

FEATURING SOCK THE RAPPER

PRODUCED ENTIRELY BY DONOVAN YOUNG

The 19 year-old Largo, MD native teams up with the 23 year-old Pittsburgh-bred producer and Pedestrian Boutique to make his Write of Way EP a reality. Sock the Rapper breathes life into every verse, he makes sure you remember ever hook, and leaves you with an urge to press repeat and listen to it one more time. Every beat offers you something different to groove to and every track transports you to a different frame of mind.

"All She Needs" is an ode to a beautiful female who has caught the attention of the emcee and now he has to repair what the last guy broke, as Sock proclaims that, "a little love is all she needs." His lyrical composition is well put together and the beat is flawless, giving off a classic LL Cool J, 'I Need Love' vibe. With the windows rolled down and your girl in the passenger seat, this will defiantly be one for that summer-time love.

There are not enough words in the English language that can describe "Built For This." A gritty beat under Sock's flow about his dream with God. The lyrics are so intricate; they almost make you forget where you are and transport you into his dream.

Can't miss out on "Mama" a track dedicated to his mother and everything that she's done for him. Truly a humble man, Sock took the time to make sure something was special and just for her.

His talent soars far beyond this EP, the world will be seeing much more of Sock the Rapper. A force to be reckoned with and a staple in the hip hop world. He's young, determined and persistent - the very combination that will make him a legend and Write of Way, a classic.

I am not kidding. I went to Amazon.com and searched Lil Wayne and this was the first result that popped up. I wouldn't joke about something like this!

Who in the hell does he think he is? Why would you photoshop tattoos on a baby? What in the name of Campbell's Soup? Check the pinky ring tho, you think he really had that on or another great photoshop job?? I'm just so disturbed by this whole thing, it makes me uneasy.

TUESDAY REVIEWS

Day 26

Alright, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Just like you, I over-looked this album mainly because they're a Mr. Combs manufactured and processed group - and no one likes processed stuff but let me just say, this album started off really strong. Q, Brian, Mike, Willy and Robert have meshed very well, their voices have grown and they're actually sounding like a 'real group'. My only thing is, there aren't that many 'guy groups' so hopefully Mr. Combs will do right by them and they last. If not, we all know that they'll go solo and about 1 out of 5 will make it! Ha. Thats some statistics for your ass.

With their first single Got Me Going, it's a very upbeat club song and will get lots of radio play, produced by Mario Winans. Very playful and shows the various ranges of the guy's sound and voices. The album slows down a bit with Silly Love and Q on the first verse, you gotta just love that guy, Willy on the second and Mike and Robert on the bridge. The hook is smooth; drink it down (thanks Ron Burgundy).

Willy seems to have shown his ass on this album, he is all over the place. Brian is perfect on the bridges and hooks, his voice is made for this. Q is just so mellow, his voice flows well with the other guys. Mike is like a chameleon, he can do a verse, a hook, a bridge - he has a pure voice. Robert has the most unique voice of them all, it's raspy but it works and they know where to put him in a song to make it flow well.

All in all the album is solid (as much as I hate to say it). Great production. Great writers. The album fits them to a T, Mr. Combs knew that they guys need to be young, fresh, and sexy. They do a great job of pulling their women listeners into their album, especially with songs like Co Star - a personally favorite. Be proud of these guys.

Tuesday's Reviews

Danity Kane
Welcome to the Dollhouse

With their sophomore album, Danity Kane is ready to take their stand in the music business and demand respect. As those who watch MTVs 'Making the Band 4' we saw them stand up to Mr. Combs and demand that they do songs that they like - and to be honest, it paid off.

The intro on this album disturbed me a little, why does Mr. Combs have to speak on EVERYTHING - his voice just has to be heard but the album flows great, a lot better than their first one. The transition from song to song is smooth. Production comes from, of course, Brian Michael-Cox, Mario Winans, and The Runners - just to name a few. It seems like Mr. Combs hires the same team every time, sheesh does he produce ANYTHING anymore!?!

As half the world probably already knows, Damaged (their first single) is actually a really great track, but yet again Mr. Combs is spitting a verse on the end "this too shall pass." Whatever! Loves it completely. Pretty Boy sounds like something out of this world and will def be played in somebody's club - now whether this song packs the dance floor or not, eh, guess we'll know soon enough. By far my favorite track has been Strip Tease, just listen to it. Last but certainly not least, Poetry - I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is a B. Michael-Cox joint, well what gave it away the piano in the beginning! Yes! Hate him.

Tuesday's Reviews

Back to redeem herself, with her Tenth studio album Janet Jackson is bouncing back with a vengence; Discipline.

The album is a mash up of all her greatest dance hits plus the great 'baby makin' ballads that she is also known for. It is a very up-beat project, perfectly flowing from one song to the next. A 22-track album guaranteed to take you, through a rollercoster of emotions, back down memory lane, and maybe reminisce about old lovers or past relationships.

Janet seems to be in a all-out battle with herself to be the best at what she does, she will succeed and most likely make 10 more albums. Ms. Jackson is dedicated and eager, strong and wise. This is her history.

Often imitated but never duplicated... Erykah Badu is back at it again with her Fourth studio album; New Amerykah, Pt. 1: 4th World War

With a master mix of funk, hip hop and an outer space swag Ms. Badu yet again bring the funkiness to the table. Her sultry voice on top of an out-of-this world beat makes this album a definite must have. She blends the rawness of reality with America's love for Hip Hop and breathes life into every song.

As the first part to her planned trilogy opens, Amerykhan Promise comes through the speakers sounding more like a retro skate-party theme and it paints a picture in your mind of a happy time, partying and dancing to this joint. But this track sets the mood for what is yet to come.

Once your speakers have adjusted, The Healer blares out of them and suddenly there is a groove going and your head is nodding; Erykah has that effect on some people. This song is classic and has plenty of staying time, long after this album is long and forgotten.

A few more tracks flow through, That Hump slows it down a bit, gives you time to grasp the feeling.. the melody.. the beat. She's talking about something and she wants you to listen. This track is surely a transition from the up-tempo Master Teacher and Twinkle.

An 11-track album made for the masses, built on Mars, sent to Earth for your listening pleasure. No one could've done it better than Ms. Badu and hip hop thanks her. She classic and untainted, flawless and simplistic. This is her greatness.

Ashanti's Cover

I posted the link for her new singe The Way I Love You a few days back (check the New Musak link) but now the cover for her single has emerged.... hence the photo above (^^).

Ashanti is definitely looking much older and mature in this photo, too bad I'm not really loving the pose. I just think it looks crazy. Like why is she resting her head on that mirror?? In the words of Ms. J (from ANTM) "NOT FIERCE!"

All in all.... I'm glad she is back in the studio working and I hope she will reconsider acting as a career. I mean singing isn't her strong-point either, but John Tucker Must Die was just disastrous. (ie. the picture below and that nasty thing attacking her head)

Alright. Alright. I'll leave Ashanti alone. Enjoy your Sunday.

I must admit that I like this joint. It sounds a lot different than what is getting constant radio play but I just love the energy that Badu gives off in her music. I'm selfishly awaiting her album release on iTunes so I can sit up all night and rock to it! A def 'must have' in 2008.
