THROWBACK JOINTS - Fuckery Edition

I have this iTunes playlist full of old corny ass songs... so I present to you a snippit of the things that fill this playlist:

THROWBACK JOINTS - Bad Boy Edition

Since I know it's not just me....

I loved Bad Boy Records when they were in their prime.

BIG POPPA

What would have Puff done without BIG? I don't even feel bad knowing that Bad Boy Records has run every one of their artists careers into the ground... shit, folks should know by now.

MASE

Don't fake! Who didn't love Mase? He had that baby face and that cute little smile. Now he is some where selling the Lord for $19.99 at 4 o'clock in the morning on public access television[1].

FAITH EVANS

I still blast Faith on any good day and it angers me to this day that Bad Boy killed her career. Don't get me wrong, her comeback album was great but I think she got into being a mother and a new wife... and I can't be mad at the sister for that. I loves Faith tho....

112

Didn't all Bad Boy videos look just the same?? It's funny. I liked 112 more when they were with Bad Boy... when they left, some shit took a left and talent went out the window. AND I know it's not just me but - doesn't this song take you back to summers in the 90s, at the park; with the air thick with the smells from the grill, shiny cars fresh from the car wash, water guns, short skirts and K-Swiss kicks?? Sheesh, I loved those memories from the 90s - DOPE

Oh and if this song doesn't take you back to happier times in the 90s, kill yaself.

[1] ok I was wrong for that

THROWBACK JOINT - "Shawty" Edition

I took this one straight from my iTunes playlists. Yeah I have one called "Shawty" is that a problem?

:-)
Happy Thursday!

THROWBACK JOINT(s) - DMV Edition

Yes folks. He was a Crossland High School Cavalier (yay Cavs!) and he played football. BIG ups to my alma mater.

I know somebody that went to high school with her. They say she was really conceited. Eh, who cares?

Iuno about the intro to this video but it gets the job done. Anyhow, every single time I go home and go to Annapolis Seafood, I run into this nigga. I swear videos do him justice because he is one little dude, like 120lbs soaking wet with boots on. But he's cool. His daughter used to have gymnastics with my best friends little sister and his chick (Sole) would always be around, they're cool people (from what I gather).

P.G. COUNTY STAND UP!

Never been past Virginia Beach, VA so I wouldn't know where Tappahannock is... couldn't even find it on a map if it was highlighted in hot sauce. But he reps the 2 up 2 down (think about it) so I'm cool with it.

Petersburg is like the deadest town next to Lynchburg (ha! Lynch... burg) but hey you gotta rep home, right? I think he's originally born in Richmond... which is my shit, I went there a few times on a field trip - lol.

---------
I'm not gonna do Missy or Timbaland or Pharrell and the Neptunes because we already knew about them. And I refuse to add Mario or any other Baltimore natives to this list because anyone from the DMV knows that we DO NOT include Baltimore (or for that matter, we do not believe that Baltimore is apart of Maryland).

Oh and other notables from the great area that is the District, Maryland and Virgina are;
Dave Chapelle, Martin Lawrence, Toni Braxton and Jada Pinkett-Smith... just to name a few.

THROWBACK JOINT

I think this one speaks for itself. I don't know why this song has been stuck in my head. Maybe it's my sub-conscience trying to tell me something [like maybe I need some] or proally because I heard a cover of it on YouTube the other night. Here I'll post it for you, only because I love these kids and I'm willing to support:

:-)

THROWBACK JOINT - Rock Edition

"My car is in the front yard and I'm sleeping with my clothes on. I came in through the window last night and your gone"

How can you not still love this song? I'm a college student so of course I've had nights where I wonder, 'what the hell just happened?' Drinking is bad. But LIT was the shit for this joint and I wish that I paid more attention to their music as the years progressed.

---

"I'm happy. I'm feeling glad. I got sunshine in a bag."

If you didn't like this song you were a complete loser and your life sucked balls. I think I was in the 7th or 8th grade when I first heard this on MTV2 and I just thought it was beyond DOPE. Still loves it and still loves the Gorillaz - they're sick-wit-it!

---

"When it gets cold outside and you got nobody to love."

Everyone I knew underestimated Maroon 5 and guess what, they're the DOPE-est band you've ever heard of. This song never gave me that rock feel, it was like something a rapper needed to be on. I love their crossover sound. Ha! Now the world can't get enough of Maroon 5. Loves it.

---

"And all the girlies say I'm pretty fly for a white guy."

If you don't like this song or the movie Malibu's Most Wanted.... go jump off of something high and plant your head pretty close to the ground.

THROWBACK JOINT - Live Edition

THROWBACK JOINT

THROWBACK JOINT(s) - The 'Lil' Edition

I remember when EVERYBODY was coming out with the 'Lil' attached to they damn name, that ish irked me to no ends. Whatever, they did it and I'm glad that it's done. Anywhoo, let's get into some old tracks from the Lil's....
[by the way, there will be no Lil Kim or Lil Cease because I already did a Throwback Edition for them, check my archives or do a search - it's to your right]

Alright. So here we go.

Lil Shad Gregory Moss or Lil Bow Wow (at this time) and now he just goes by Bow Wow. It's funny that this video is first because I remember calling into The Box to request this song all the time, I had the BIGGEST crush on Bow Wow but then I grew up and he just got older, can't say that he grew up because I'm pretty sure that he is still no taller than that darn fence.

NEXT!

Lil Percy Romeo Miller Jr. or Lil Romeo (at this time) and now going by just Romeo. Can't say that I was into No Limit and all that southern hippidy-hopper stuff when I was younger, but I do remember this song getting hella play on 95.5. The tweens just couldn't handle the abundance of these young whipper-snappers.

NEXT!

Lil Zane Copeland Jr. or Lil Zane (at this time) but now he's going by Zane. What is it with these Lil's not sticking with they Lil title?? Anyway, can't say that I remember this song either... shit I thought Lil Zane was dead (I'm sorry), is that wrong? Honestly, I saw him on a YouTube video a couple months back and before that I had just thought some ill shit happened and he was dead. But since he's still kickin....

NEXT!

Lil Cynthia Loving or Lil Mo who is surprising still going by the Lil Mo name! YAY. On some real ish tho, chick can SANG and I wish that she hadn't gone so underground. Her last album was pretty much a promotion failure but I copped it and it's not bad. I love this chick and I will support whatever she chooses to do. I heard she's married with a couple of little ones?? Good for her!

and can I just say this, am I the only one who just loved Fabolous with this chipped tooth? Him and Nas? I was so mad when they got that ish fixed, it just made them look so masculine. Well, maybe I am the only one who thought that.

That's it for today's Throwback Editions and if your wanting anymore Lil's, they have their on Wikipedia page HERE. I swear there is a Wikipedia page for anyone, anything, and everything!

Peace & Much Love

THROWBACK JOINT(s) - Tupac Edition

This edition needs no commentary. Just lay back, light a blunt and enjoy.

THROWBACK JOINT(s) - Boyz II Men Edition

I was so in love with Boyz II Men when I was younger. They were like the first boy band that I ws really into and I mean REALLY into. I was digging on them so much, I even had a crush on the deep-voiced one (thinks back), man those were the days. I had every CD. Knew every song. These songs bring back so many memories, good and bad.

Take this walk back down memory lane with me:

This song still means so much to me, I get all teary-eyed when I even think about it. It was like the first love song that I actually understood and I think this song made me fall in love with the thought of being in love. A def must have at anyone's wedding.

This song is still on my 'In Between The Sheets' playlist and it should be on yours! This is like the original boy band, baby-makin song.

Wow. I love Boyz II Men for making me want to fall in love so bad. I just want the kind of love that they're always singing about. This song especially.

Now these next three actually make me cry. So if your ever around me and one of these songs starts playing and I just break down into tears, this is why.

First one.
I've lost so many people close to me and this song never makes that hurt feel any better. It actually makes me mad for not saying what I wanted to say to the people that have passed. If I could I would tell Brandon that "I love you and just know that we're all keeping you in our hearts" and I would tell Derrick that "Ocean City was so much fun and I will never forget the fun that we had after prom and at Graduation. I love you so much and I know your in a better place." I would tell Bridgette "Everything is gonna be okay baby but please don't get in that car, just stay at home. Your family needs you."

Second one.
I think this song touches more than just me. My mother has been everything to me in my life and I appreciate her beyond this world. When my sperm-donor split, she took center stage and held down the fort. It wasn't always easy and we didn't always see eye to eye, but my moms did the best she could with what she had and she raised me and my brother the best way possible. I love my moms for struggling just to make sure that we never wanted for anything. I love her more than words can admit and I would be the first to lay down my life for my moms. She is the very and only reason why I am who I am. I'm sure you feel the same way about you moms.

Third one.
This one speaks for itself.

THROWBACK JOINT(s) - Sex Edition

It's Monday and raining, so this will most likely be my only post and it speaks for itself.

and I'll throw this curve ball in there, for shits and giggles::

-----
(sigh) It's been a while.

THROWBACK JOINT - **Fresh Prince Edition**

I catch myself nodding my head to this jam, rolling the windows down, and turning the volume up as loud as it will go. This song just embodies beautiful days in Philadelphia, like today. Oh and was that the Schuylkill River behind them!

Yep! This is that shit right here!
"Girls of the world aint nothing but trouble"
Oh and come on, this shit is timeless!
I'm so glad that Will Smith is an actor instead of a rapper, I mean that gig was just up a while ago. And he is one hell of an actor, come on... have you seen I Am Legend?! (pauses, let me find a clip) I swear I was so skeptical about watching this movie but my ex-pseudo assured me that it was good. So we watched it and I think it changed my life, I felt so bad for him.... and his bacon!
Powerful.

THROWBACK JOINT (part 2)

I hated this dude's gap but I still rocks with this song. I wonder what happened to him? Like does he still sing? Is he still alive? Sheesh. This song has such a powerful meaning and when it came out I don't think I understood it that much, but damn if I don't understand now. I wish this kid would come back out with something 'cause this song was all dat (thanks 90s).

Oh and sorry for two THROWBACK JOINTS in one day, I just felt the sudden urge to post that song when I found the video for it. There are also a bunch of horrible covers of it on YouTube and trust me, I'm not one of them (even tho ya'll know I can hold a note or two) and most people have never heard me sing (except Doodle).

And lastly, my words of wisdom (I think I may have a Wisdom Wednesday post every Wednesday, from now on..... what'chu think??) But back to the words of wisdom::

"Never underestimate the power of love and emotion, the combination of the two is deadly. So watch your actions and be prepared for an equal reaction; it's called Karma. But mostly known as Newton's Law of Motion: "To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Be prepared for what life has to offer you, either good or bad because no matter which path you take, a lesson will be learned. Love. Live. Life. Peace"

THROWBACK JOINT

When I left class this morning, I turned this jam up and kept it moving. This song kinda embodies what I'm going through right now. Whoa was that Taye Diggs??

But anywho. I had that "someone" and then I went and messed everything up. I only wish that things could've went differently and that him and I could still be "us". But I can't dwell on yesterday because there is more life ahead of me, I turned over a new leaf and hopefully if he really loves me like he says he does - things will fall into place. For now, I'm (pauses)...........

THROWBACK JOINT

I love re-makes. They make my heart flutter. But most of all, I always loved Tiny and LaTocha.

I was listening to Xscape earlier today and I figured, why not?

Enjoy.

THROWBACK JOINT

he is the truth
he is so real
and I love the way that he makes me feel
and if I am a reflection of him
then I must be fly
because his light shines so bright

I love him in every way that a woman can love a man from personal to universal but most of all unconditional

I wonder does he know?

THROWBACK JOINT

hummm

I remember this. Interesting

THROWBACK JOINT

This one is for my best friend[1]

It's okay. Women across the world understand, but you don't have to take it out on the rest of us. All love babe! Have a good day.

endnote:
1. If you don't know than maybe we're not friends.

THROWBACK JOINT(s) - Lil Kim edition

I think I was too young to understand this song but I knew every word, which is a damn shame. But for real, who didn't love the blue wig'd out Lil Kim before all the surgery and when she was chillin with Cease & 'em.

"But don't blush. Just keep this on the hush."

I still rock to this jam, it's like my anthem! It made you just want to go, "who the fuck are you?" to any haters. And even here she had a few surgeries but she wasn't that bad, she was still very REAL. Oh yeah, and still kickin it with Cease and Mary. Classic Kim - they even had her dancing a bit, BUT WHY DOES SEAN COMBS HAVE TO SPEAK ON EVERYTHING!?! It pisses me off.

"True. If I was you I'd hate me too"

This one needs no introduction. Kimberly Jones did her damn thing and I love it.

"All we wanna do is party and buy everybody at the bar Bacardi"

-------
where have the female MCs gone?? I want the old Lil Kim and Lauryn Hill back. Roxanne Shante..MC Lyte..Queen Latifah.. it's like trying to find waldo!
